TITLE: The Lion Maker

AUTHOR: The Lion Makers (Panchatantra) by Vishnu Sharma.

CHARACTERS:
There are many characters in lion king. Simba, Cub Nala, Scar, and Sarafina. The importent character was Simba.

PLOT:

The Indian literature “The Lion Makers”was easy to understand the flow of the story because of its point of view. The first person who speak in the story is the narrator. By that, the reader will easily interpret the story. Based on what I have red, there are some symbol that are used in the story like the lion which means for me as the sign of the failure of three intelligent Brahmans. Scholarship that stands for selfishness. Sensibility, wisdom and friendship are the main theme of the story which reminds me about the quotation of John Ruskin “What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of a little consequence. The only consequences is what we do” so it means that its theme gives the reader a moral lesson after reading it. On my opinion, The Lion Makers is man vs. man because the conflict there is the three Brahmans against the sensible Brahman during their confrontation about bringing the lion back to life. Here are the plot of the story. Exposition: The four Brahmans went on a journey to test their scholarship. Rising action: They found a bones of a dead lion and the senseless scholars agreed to bring it back to life. Climax: The lion was revived and killed the first three Brahmans while the sensible Brahman saved himself. Denouement: The sensible Brahman survived because he climb up the three. Resolution: The sensible Brahman realized that scholarship is less than sense.

This story is in the certain town in India, the forest. The implied comparison in The Lion Makers is on the first paragraph of the story, the comparison of the first three Brahman and the sensible Brahman but there is no comparison introduce by as or like. As I read the story, I notice the line of the second Brahman “My intelligent friend, you lack scholarship. Please go home.” I think it is kind of dramatic irony because when the second Brahman said it, he just want to say that his friend was scholarship distasteful and dullard. The sensible Brahman said that he will going to climb at the convenient tree before the lion back to life, because of that we can able to find clues or idea that the three Brahmans will die. This tale from Panchatantra in India was a good literature because although it is just a short story, it gives as the idea of analyzing the literature
